Bustling city streets in the city that never sleeps. December, 2018.

I have lived here on Long Island my entire life. There are so many people who move away from here because its either too expensive to live or its too crowded. Unless you live further out on eastern Long Island, we are pretty packed. More and more people leave here every year. But I do not think a lot of people appreciate the beauty that Long Island has to offer.

No, we do not have crystal clear blue waters like other foreign beaches, but we have fantastic beaches all our own. The northern shores of Long Island offer more of a rocky beach, with a beautiful view of Connecticut on a clear, sunny afternoon, while the southern shores offer soft sands, perfect for walking along with a fantastic view of the sunsets. Most of my photos, past and present, of the sunsets come from the Smith Point beach, just a ten minute drive from my hometown along the South Shore.

Although, I do have to admit, I am one of those who is looking to leave Long Island. I do plan on eventually moving away from here, finding another town, possibly even a whole other state, to live in. But this does not mean I will never return here. I will always come back home, to visit. As much as I have such a huge desire to travel the world, a part of me will always belong to New York, right here on Long Island.

Not only do we have New York City to the west of us, but Eastern Long Island is wine country. It's the best of both worlds! The bustling "City That Never Sleeps", and the beautiful relaxed country life (plus wine!). There is always something to do out here, and I don't think I could ever fully give up on such a beautiful place to live. Wine country, city life, bar-life, fantastic food and fairs and beaches - what's not to love?!

I highly recommend a visit to Long Island. It's honestly such a great place to bring the family for a nice vacation, or just to escape on your own and watch some pretty amazing sunsets.

Happy traveling!
